Ben offers relaxed, down to earth advice for First Home Buyers, Next Home Buyers & Investors. He has 4 years in the financial advice profession and brings a fresh perspective to the industry. Ben understands what it’s like to be both an adviser and a client having worked with an adviser when he and his wife purchased their first home in 2015. Away from the office, Ben is dad to his two daughters Charlotte & Frankie & husband to wife, Ruth. They have recently moved south to Ōtāne and are enjoying all the country life has to offer.

Ben is the newest member to the Mortgage Sure team and he brings a fresh perspective to the financial services industry. Ben has a strong customer focus and recognises the need for a more tailored approach for each customer’s objective.

The mortgage itself is the document that the bank uses to take security over your property. So when applying for a ’mortgage’, as most of us say, you’re not actually applying for a mortgage, you’re applying for a home loan.

When you apply to the bank for your home loan and the bank says yes, you can have one they give you the loan but also take out a mortgage over your home. Which means in the event that you cannot make repayments on your loan the bank has the opportunity to sell the house to recoup costs.

Hence the term ‘free hold’, people often use this term when they have finished paying off their home loan. The bank no longer has a mortgage over the property, therefore they own the house free of the hold of the bank’s mortgage.

Ruth works with Ben as a business manager and personal assistant. Away from the office Ruth is a mother to her and Ben’s two children, Charlotte and Frankie. Previous to working with Ben, Ruth was a primary school teacher, she worked in many different schools around Hastings and is still passionate about teaching.
